We had a lovely dinner with our super neighbor friends a couple of nights ago. What did we eat?
Some of my homemade chicken in a crock pot on top of lettuce from our garden. Woo Who! Our first garden goodies!
It was a simple meal, but quite tasty and even better because of the excellent company.
My Daddy and I planted a great salad mix from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds (which I HIGHLY recommend) on May 2nd and we harvested this first batch of lettuce on May 24th. From seed to my kitchen table that makes 22 days. Sweet!
I cut the lettuce with my kitchen scissors about 3 inches from the ground and then watered them a lot for the next couple of days. My Dad said that I can harvest the lettuce again…probably 3 times. Awesome!
Have you gotten anything from your gardens yet? Tell me all about it…I’d love to know!
Until next time…
xoxo,
Jess, aka Scratch Mommy

No garden harvest yet… got a late start! Enjoy your lovely greens!
We got salad greens early last year and it was so much fun! I cannot wait for our to get here!
Lettuce was the first thing I got out and I got the rest of the gardens in late, like you. We know it’ll be worth the wait though! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by!
Jessica, that was the best and freshest salad ever! Great greens, fabulous chicken and the company could not have been better. Well done, my friend. Can’t wait to see…taste…what comes up next. Kathie
