1 Knife (for spreading or slicing, if needed)

2
slices
of bread
your choice: white, wheat, or sourdough
1-2
slices
of bologna
Butter or mayonnaise
optional, for toasting the bread
Cheese slice
optional, American or cheddar works great
Condiments
mustard, mayo, or maybe some
homemade ketchup
, etc.
Optional toppings
lettuce, tomato, pickles, or onion
Instructions
Prepare the Bread
If you like toasted bread, spread a light layer of butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
Toast the Bread (Optional)
Place the bread, buttered/mayo side down, in the skillet over medium heat until golden. Remove and set aside.
Cook the Bologna
Heat the skillet over medium heat.
Add the bologna slice(s). Use a knife to make 2-3 small slits around the edges to prevent curling.
Fry for about 1-2 minutes per side, until browned and slightly crispy.
Assemble the Sandwich
Place the cooked bologna on one slice of bread.
Add cheese (if desired) while the bologna is still hot so it melts slightly.
Spread condiments on the other slice of bread.
Add any toppings you like (lettuce, tomato, onions, etc.).
Put it Together
Place the second slice of bread on top, cut the sandwich in half (if you want), and serve!
