Whether we are ready or not, many places are now entering fall. We might as well embrace it, because it’s time.

With fall comes greater incidence of colds, bouts with the flu, etc etc etc. Many kiddos are back in school or daycare where they are passing around little sickly germs and bringing them home. Boo.

I am not a person who is terribly afraid of germs. In fact, along with Danelle, I believe that they are beneficial, That said, I’d prefer to keep many of them at bay, and beyond that, I especially want to make sure that my kitchen is sanitary (a lot of raw meat mess ends up on my counters, as I’m sure is the case with yours, too).

One of my first blog posts was a cleaner with ACV and orange peels. While I do still adore this cleaner, out of necessity, I’ve had a new favorite cleaning recipe enter my home. The orange peel recipe requires some marinating time. Sooooo…what happens when you run out and your forgot to start soaking some more oranges (…oops)?

This recipe. This recipe is what happens. And I must say, it’s quite glorious. An all purpose DIY household cleaner!

This is a powerful cleaner in both appearance (it gets things clean, visually) and germ-attacking effectiveness (the essential oils used in this recipe are proven amazing germ fighters).

Oh, and this stuff smells divine, too. Win.

  1. This is how I clean my house and my clients (I have a cleaning service), but I infuse distilled white vinegar infused with any citrus peel for two weeks. Using essential oils can become a little pricier for me.

  5. You use a 1:5 ratio of ACV to water, how did you come up with that ratio? Some recipes have up to a 50/50 ratio. Also, in your recipe for the citrus infused vinegar you don’t seem to cut it at all. Just use the straight vinegar infusion. Why isn’t this one cut with water?

  9. I love the idea of using essential oils in homemade cleaning products. My baby-girl recently started crawling and she crawls all around the house. So I needed a recipe for all-purpose cleaner, because i don’t want to use store bought detergents for cleaning. Your recipe seems to work perfectly good, so I’m mixing it right this weekend. Thank you for the idea!
